Diane Meinke, a true pioneer in water gardening founded Aqua-Doc A.M.C. in 1983 as one of the very first pond maintenance companies not only in the nation, but worldwide. Many thought it was an odd type of company and was doubtful of it's success. Within two years Diane's client base had grown to a point she couldn't take on anymore new clients. She never advertised in the newspaper or in the phone book. Along with the assistance of a few water garden and pond companies as well as some great referrals Aqua-Doc A.M.C's success exploded.
In 1991 after meeting Dr Erik Johnson at a Koi show and also seeking the guidance of local veterinarians, Diane assisted fellow Koi owners in learning how to set up preventative quarantine measures when introducing new fish and care for their own sick fish. Along with many noted years as a veterinary technician in Florida as well as her enthusiasm for the Pond and Koi hobby, Aqua-Doc's and Diane's reputation grew leaps and bounds.
Ms. Meinke was an active member of the Florida Koi and Water garden Society as well as one of the founders of the Florida Water garden Society. She was invited to speak frequently at member meetings, managed the newsletter as editor as well as authored articles for the Florida water garden magazine.
Beginning in 1983 Ms. Meinke pursued breeding utilizing hand picked show winning imported Japanese Koi. After several years of breeding and keeping detailed records of the Japanese bloodline brood stock - her efforts yielded extremely successful winning results. Ms Meinke achieved numerous awards for Koi competitions although her emphasis, interest and specialization focused on a few specific varieties: Hi Utsuri & Ki Utsuri, Kujaku, Kumonryu & Cha-goi.
